Private Credit Arrangement

Private Credit Arrangement: Raising Asset-Backed Private Debt

Private credit is debt from non-bank funds. Raising it well means one lender-ready credit file and a competitive process across funds that fit the asset and ticket. Financely, a borrower-retained UK arranger, issues a written Go/No-Go, builds the file and runs that process to signed terms. Financely does not lend.

This page is the borrower-retained arrangement process for asset-backed private debt. For a broader overview of private credit solutions, see that page. The two URLs stay separate; neither redirects to the other. Cross-link both ways when you publish.

When private credit makes sense instead of bank debt

Private credit often fits when the ask is asset-backed, complex, cross-border, or needs covenant flexibility banks will not give. The trade-off is cost. Typical triggers: a bank decline, a structure banks treat as special situations, or a need for speed and reporting terms a bank line will not accept. Borrowers with receivables, inventory, equipment, real-estate-backed operating companies, project assets or sponsor-backed acquisitions are the core audience.

Private credit is not a shortcut around a missing credit story. Funds still underwrite collateral, cash flow and management. The difference is appetite and structuring flexibility when banks step back.

Types of private credit we arrange

Asset-based lending

Facilities against receivables, inventory and other current assets. Packaging: asset-based lending credit packaging.

Acquisition debt for sponsors

Debt packaging for equity-committed independent sponsors. Detail: acquisition finance for independent sponsors.

Equipment and capex debt

Industrial and equipment term debt where hard assets support the ask. Detail: equipment capex debt arrangement.

Receivables-backed facilities

Including government and agency receivables where eligible. Detail: receivables finance for government and UN contracts.

Trade and commodity facilities from non-bank funds are packaged on commodity trade finance credit file. Memo craft across structures sits on lender-ready credit memo. This page is the umbrella process; those pages are the structure-specific packs.

How the arrangement process works

Financely starts with a written Go/No-Go on assets, cash flow and the debt ask. If the case is fundable, the credit file is built: memo, model, collateral and security package, risk matrix, data room and KYC. Fund-fit mapping matches mandate to asset, ticket and geography. Controlled outreach uses one Q&A log so every fund sees the same answers. Term sheets are compared on like-for-like terms, then negotiation support continues toward signed terms. Funds decide and lend.

For trade-flow mandates that need a multi-provider process across banks and funds, see also trade finance competitive lender process.

What private credit funds look for

  • Collateral quality and control, including perfection and monitoring
  • Cash flow coverage and downside cases
  • Sponsor or management quality and alignment
  • Reporting discipline the borrower can actually deliver
  • A credible exit or refinancing path

Files that skip collateral control, or that present an equity-style story as debt, fail Go/No-Go. Funds price risk they can measure. Packaging has to make that measurement possible.

Asset-backed private credit still needs a borrower story: why the capital is needed, how it is repaid, and what happens if the primary collateral softens. The memo should state that plainly. Funds decline files that read like equity raises with a debt label attached.

Cross-border borrowers should expect enhanced KYC, sanctions screening and jurisdiction analysis as part of the same pack. Fit mapping then excludes funds whose mandates stop at a given geography or asset class, which saves time and protects the borrower's reputation with the remaining shortlist.

Comparing private credit term sheets

Who this does not fit

Pre-revenue businesses with no assets, equity-type asks, and "no upfront fee" funding searches fail Go/No-Go. See why advisory fees are paid upfront.

Fund lists remain research resources: top private credit funds and platforms to raise private credit. They help borrowers understand the market. They are not a substitute for a competitive process on one file. When you publish this page, add an inbound link from those listicles and from private credit back to this arrangement URL.

Fee frame

Financely is borrower-retained for a fixed written fee after Go/No-Go and a signed scope. Financely is not paid by funds. Any success fee is written before you commit. No fee amounts or ticket sizes appear on this page. Borrower-retained fees keep the process fund-agnostic.
