Corporate Trade Finance

Trade Finance Solutions for Corporates and Large Companies

Large companies rarely lack a bank. What they lack is the right mix of facilities: enough documentary credit and guarantee capacity, working capital that grows with the order book, receivables that turn into cash on time, and suppliers that stay financed. Financely advises corporates on the structure of their trade finance and arranges the facilities with banks, trade finance funds, credit insurers and other specialist providers.

Financely is an advisory and arranging firm, not a bank. Facilities are provided by third-party institutions and remain subject to their credit approval.

Who This Service Is For

Importers and exporters

Manufacturers, distributors and processors with regular cross-border flows who need LC, guarantee and pre-shipment capacity beyond their current banks.

Commodity producers and traders

Companies whose working capital swings with prices and volumes, and who need facilities secured on the trade itself.

Treasury and finance teams

CFOs and treasurers who want to diversify away from one or two relationship banks or replace facilities that no longer match the business.

Contractors and project suppliers

Companies that need bid, advance payment and performance guarantees to win and deliver contracts.

What We Arrange

  • Documentary credit and guarantee lines: import LC capacity, standby letters of credit, bid, advance payment and performance guarantees, and confirmation for export LCs.
  • Revolving trade facilities and borrowing bases: working capital secured on inventory, receivables and contracts, sized to the trading cycle. See trade finance facility structuring services.
  • Syndicated and club facilities: larger lines shared between several lenders where one bank cannot hold the full exposure. See syndicated trade finance facility structuring.
  • Pre-export and prepayment finance: funding for producers against future deliveries under offtake contracts.
  • Receivables finance and securitisation: selling or financing trade receivables, with or without credit insurance. See trade receivables securitization services.
  • Supply chain finance: buyer-led programmes that let suppliers get paid early against approved invoices. See supply chain finance programme buildout.

Eligibility

Corporate trade finance is assessed on the company's financial strength and on the quality of the underlying trade. Providers look for audited accounts, a trading history in the goods concerned, creditworthy counterparties, and flows that repay the facility from the trade itself. Companies with thinner balance sheets can still access structured facilities where the goods, contracts or receivables provide strong security. Financely does not set a fixed minimum; size and fit are assessed at deal review.

How The Process Works

  1. Deal review. You submit financial statements, current facilities, a summary of trade flows and what you need. Financely screens the file and proposes a path.
  2. Engagement. A written estimate sets out scope, retainer and success fee. Work begins once it is signed and the retainer is paid.
  3. Facility design. Financely maps the trade cycle, the risks and the security, then designs the facility mix: products, limits, tenors, security and covenants.
  4. Credit file. A lender-ready information pack covering the company, its counterparties, flows, collateral controls and the proposed terms.
  5. Placement. The file goes to banks, trade finance funds, credit insurers and specialist lenders whose appetite fits the commodity, geography and risk profile.
  6. Term sheets to activation. Financely compares offers, supports negotiation and documentation, and helps set up the operational side, from borrowing base reporting to collateral management.

What Providers Need To See

  • Three years of audited financial statements and current management accounts.
  • Existing facility agreements and current utilisation.
  • Trade flow data: products, volumes, counterparties, Incoterms and payment terms.
  • Receivables ageing and inventory reports.
  • Key sales and supply contracts.
  • Group structure, KYC on beneficial owners and sanctions screening information.

Why Financely

  • Structure first. The facility is designed around how the company trades, so limits and covenants fit the business rather than a standard template.
  • Bank and non-bank capacity. Banks, trade finance funds and credit insurers are considered together, which helps where relationship banks are full.
  • Trade and corporate finance in one place. Financely also works on acquisition finance, debt advisory and project finance, which matters where trade facilities sit alongside other group debt.
  • Paid advisory, written terms. Fees are agreed in a signed estimate before work begins. Third-party costs such as legal counsel, inspections and collateral managers are paid by the client directly.

Frequently Asked Questions

What trade finance solutions are available to large corporates?

The main tools are documentary credit and guarantee lines, revolving trade facilities and borrowing bases, pre-export and prepayment finance, receivables finance and supply chain finance programmes. Most corporates use a combination.

Why use an advisor if we already have relationship banks?

An advisor helps where existing banks are at their limits, where pricing or terms no longer fit, or where the company wants to diversify its lender base. Financely designs the structure and runs the process across several providers.

Is Financely a bank?

No. Financely is an advisory and arranging firm. Facilities are provided by banks and other financial institutions and are subject to their credit approval.

Can you arrange trade finance for companies with limited balance sheets?

Sometimes. Structured facilities secured on goods, contracts or receivables can work where a balance sheet loan would not, provided the trade is real, the counterparties are acceptable and collateral can be controlled.

How long does it take to set up a corporate trade finance facility?

It depends on the product, the number of lenders and how complete the file is. Credit approval, documentation and operational setup all take time, and a realistic timeline is set out at engagement.

How does Financely charge?

Financely charges a deal review fee, then a retainer and a success fee agreed in a signed estimate before work begins. Third-party costs are paid directly by the client.
