LC Readiness Kit in 72 Hours

LC Readiness Kit in 72 Hours

LC Readiness Kit in 72 Hours

You have a supplier pushing for a Documentary LC and a bank that wants a clean file. This kit gets you from scattered emails to a bank-ready package in three days. No guesswork. No endless amendments.

Outcome: a complete LC request pack, bank-accepted clauses, ePresentation option if required, and a discrepancy-proof document list your seller can follow.

When to Use This Kit

  • Supplier requires a DLC or a confirmed LC to release production slots or ship.
  • You need UPAS so the seller gets cash at sight while you get terms.
  • Shipment is near and you cannot afford re-issues or amendments.
  • You want eUCP presentation and your bank wants clear wording.

The 72 Hour Plan

Hour 0 to 12
Lock the trade facts. Incoterms, ports, HS codes, goods specs, shipment window, partials, transshipment, insurance, pricing basis, tolerance, and late shipment rules. Collect supplier doc samples.
Hour 12 to 24
Pick structure. Sight, Usance, or UPAS. Decide on confirmation and eUCP. Draft the LC with our clause library. Pre-clear any special clauses with your bank RM by email.
Hour 24 to 36
Supplier alignment call. Walk through every required document and wording. Agree who pays what fees. Freeze the doc checklist and the presentation channel.
Hour 36 to 48
Finalize LC text. Add confirmation instructions, reimbursement bank, and tolerance. Insert eUCP rules if using eDocs. Run a discrepancy pre-check against sample docs.
Hour 48 to 60
Submit the LC application with the bank’s required annexes. Share the locked PDF of the LC to the seller. Get written acceptance of wording to avoid amendments.
Hour 60 to 72
Bank issues the LC. Track SWIFT copy. Confirm advising or confirming bank. Circulate the final doc checklist to the seller’s logistics team.

LC Clause Library That Cuts Amendments

Topic Sample wording Purpose
Rules This credit is subject to UCP 600. Electronic presentation under eUCP Version 2.1 permitted where stated. Sets the rulebook and eDocs option.
Presentation channel Presentation at the nominated or confirming bank via [platform or bank portal]. Paper not required unless platform is unavailable. Avoids disputes on where to present.
Shipment and presentation periods Latest shipment [date]. Presentation within 21 days after shipment and within credit expiry. Stops timing issues from killing the draw.
UPAS instruction Bank to pay at sight to beneficiary. Applicant to reimburse on [90/120/180] days from draft date at [rate basis]. Gives seller cash at sight while you get terms.
Confirmation Add confirmation at beneficiary’s request and charge to applicant. If unavailable, advise without confirmation and notify applicant. Controls confirmation cost and fallback.
Tolerance and partials Quantity tolerance ±5 percent allowed. Part shipments allowed. Transshipment [allowed/not allowed]. Prevents failures on routine variances.
Data match rule Data in documents need not be identical but must not conflict with the credit, UCP 600 Article 14. Stops nitpicks on minor wording.

Document Pack the Bank and Seller Can Actually Follow

Document Exact requirement Common failure
Commercial invoice Match buyer name and LC number. State Incoterms and price basis. Currency and totals clear. Different buyer name or missing LC number.
Packing list Marks and numbers consistent with invoice. Net and gross weights, dimensions if required. Weights conflict with B/L or invoice.
Transport document On-board B/L or AWB as required. Notify party and consignee as per LC. Clean, original or electronic per credit. Incorrect consignee or stale presentation.
Insurance Coverage per Incoterms. Amount at least 110 percent CIF value if required. Risks named. Wrong insured or inadequate coverage.
Certs and licenses COO, phytosanitary, fumigation, inspection, or SGS as required. Issuer and form as per LC. Issuer not acceptable or wrong template.

Structure Picker

Sight LC
Pay on compliant presentation. Use for tight delivery windows and cash-on-delivery suppliers.
Usance LC
Deferred payment for the applicant. Seller carries tenor unless discounted.
UPAS LC
Bank pays seller at sight. Applicant repays on tenor. Good for working capital and supplier comfort.

Top Discrepancy Traps and Fixes

Trap Fix before issuance
Wrong consignee or notify party State exact fields in the LC. Share a filled sample B/L with the seller.
No tolerance on quantity Add ±5 percent tolerance. Allow partial shipments if the trade needs it.
Conflicting data across docs Invoke the non-conflict rule. Keep item descriptions short and standard.
Stale presentation Use 21 days or more if transit is long. Align courier and platform timelines.
Insurance gaps Set amount and risks. Make insured parties match Incoterms.
